Project Abstract Requirements

Your project abstract should provide a concise description of your project design, motivation for the design, and a discussion of the usefulness or effectiveness of the final system design. Beyond provide an overview of you planned project, the project abstract will be utilized as the first step in ensuring the scale/complexity of your project is suitable given the duration of the project.

The specific requirements for the abstract are:

  1. Length: The abstract should be relatively short, 100-150 words is normal, No more than 200 word
  2. Content: Provide Brief overview of the project
    1. Motivation - Provide some context for the project
    2. Topic - Highlight the main points that might interest a reader
    3. Novel - Highlight what is new/novel in the project
    4. Problem Statement – Describe the problem the will be addressed in the proposed project
    5. Proposed Solutions – Briefly describe the proposed solution
  3. Self-Contained - The abstract should not assume the reader is an expert in the field
  4. Planned Parts/Sensors - At the end of the abstract, provide a list of parts/sensor you believe will need to implement the proposed project. At this time, you do not need to find specific parts or vendors, but rather just the type of part/sensor you think is needed.
