Instructions for installing SIMEQMWM

This program solves simultaneous (matrix) equations with complex numbers. It works on TI-83 and TI-84 calculators.

You can install the program yourself following the instructions below, or you can get it from Professor Marcellin after class on Tuesdays or Thursdays.

1) Right-click the following link: SIMEQMWM

a. Save the file in a suitable location on your computer.

2) Search the Internet for TI Connect Software. Download and install it on your computer.

3) Connect your calculator to your PC with the appropriate USB cable.*

4) Make sure your calculator is turned on.

5) Start the TI Connect Software.

6) Click the icon labeled “Send to TI Device.”

7) Click “Browse” and locate the file SIMEQMWM.8xp that you downloaded previously. Select it and click “Open.”

8) A window will open entitled “Select TI Device.” Click on the one corresponding to your calculator, and click “Select.”

9) Click “Send to Device.”

10) Watch the video on D2L entitled “TI-83/84 Complex Numbers.”

*If you have a TI-83, the USB cable is very non-standard. Stop by Professor Marcellin’s office hours to use his cable.
