We are currently looking for an energetic and motivated post-doc researcher (up to three years) to work on the construction of a near-field THz spectral imager (a device that measures the spectral response of a sample at an array of sub-wavelength spatial regions). The instrument will incorporate concepts and techniques from ultrafast lasers, THz time-domain-spectroscopy (THz-TDS), metamaterial antenna arrays, computational sensing, and lateral superresolution. The postdoctoral researcher will participate in the system design as well as provide day-to-day supervision of the construction and testing effort.

Additional minimum qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Optical Sciences/Engineering, Mathematics, OR related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience with ultrafast lasers AND/OR THz time-domain spectrometers AND/OR metamaterial antenna arrays AND/OR computational sensor systems
  • Demonstrated ability for independent research with associated publication record
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in system design, construction, and testing
  • Experience with mm-wave AND/OR THz systems
  • Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools (i.e., HFSS, CST, COMSOL, etc.)
  • Experience with computational sensor systems
  • Experience with MATLAB
  • Experience with one or more high-level programming languages (C, C++, etc.)

Please contact Professor Hao Xin if you are interested.

We are constantly looking for graduate and undergraduate students with enthusiasm and inspiration to do high quality research in the microwave, millimeter wave and THz circuits, antennas and application fields.
