This page is the home of the ERC LCA working group that is
developing life cycle assessment tools for the semiconductor industry. The
goal is to meld the expertise of the various principle investigators from the
University of Arizona, MIT, North Carolina State University, and Berkeley.
This site is a forum for sharing information among the groups during a
semi-private teleconference that is held on Wednesdays at 1 pm EST
Some of the issues we
originally discussed in our meeting at the NSF/SRC review this past spring
include:
-
The lack of databases
for performing LCI/LCA and the need for accessible ones related to semiconductor
manufacturing.
-
The lack of case studies
for the semiconductor industry so that methodologies and their strengths and
weaknesses can be learned and used by practitioners in industry.
-
Tool suppliers often do
not have process models so it is difficult to go upstream to predict how
equipment will perform.
The first teleseminar will be held on March 24, 2004 and will be
hosted by Paul Blowers with Michael Overcash discussing his work. His
powerpoint slides may be downloaded
here by using right mouse-click and then saving to your hard drive.
There are no supplemental readings for this week according to Michael Overcash.
However, a summary of discussion items may be useful in further teleseminars and
is available here.
The second teleseminar will be held on March 31, 2004 and will
be by Paul Blowers. The slides are available by clicking on the
link here.
The third teleseminar will be held on April 7, 2004 and will be
by Nina Chen. The slides are
available here.
The fourth teleseminar will be held on April 14, 2004 and will
be by
Nikhil Krishnan
and Sarah Boyd.
