Using Given Relations



Example 1:

At your new research lab you are asked to determine the correct number of slides to order for the project you will be working on. You read that 1200 slides will be needed to complete the project. Slides come in packs of 24 and each pack costs $5.20. Determine the total cost of the slides needed.

Answer:
1200 slidess pack $5.20
24 slides pack
= $260.00
As seen above, dividing the number of slides by the number of slides per pack and then multiplying this by the price per slide cancels out the proper units to give an answer in dollars.
